Social Media / Content Strategist
About “Money No Get Enemy”
Love it or hate it, everyone has to have it. We tell stories about the history of money in Africa and how this continent came to be known for its express lack of this thing called money. A podcast on the history and nature of money through the lens of pre-colonial West African economies under threat of western colonization.

What is the role?
This role has two primary functions. The first is to work with the producers to develop and implement a content strategy and marketing plan for our web and social media platforms leading up to, during and after the launch of the podcast. We expect this period to be 8-10 weeks.
As required by the content strategy, you can expect to be creating and designing different types of editorial content as we develop the economic world of pre-colonial West Africa for the audience. This may include infographics, photographs of characters from our stories, maps of the local kingdoms and other interactive media for our channels. You’ll develop and/or oversee production of multimedia content to adapt research materials into web and social media content.
The second function of the role is to operate as a social media manager across the required platforms. This means managing the day to day content to keep our audience active and engaged. The role requires a willingness to experiment with multiple growth strategies to help reach listenership targets for the podcast. You’ll also need to support active audience monitoring, engaging with likes, comments, questions during the campaign period.
How will we measure success?
Our first goal is to have a completed content plan including a monthly web and social media calendar created in line with the podcast release schedule. Ideally a 8-10 week period leading up to and after launch date.
A key measure would be the number of subscribers ahead of the launch. It is important that we begin building an audience ahead of the release of the podcast. We aim to launch our social media platforms in late May and quickly grow our followership.
Skills you should have
We are looking for someone who is dynamic, takes initiative, and is ready to be fearless in their desire to test and push multiple ideas in order to hit our ambitious goals. As developing a content strategy will be a primary focus for this role, an ability to dream up and then execute on a vision is key. You’ll be working with a small team of creatives and should be willing to take the lead and present your ideas. We also need you to be able to follow through on the day-to-day tasks required to keep the engine rolling on the social media side.
On the technical side. You should have a knack for writing engaging copy for web and social media. Experience with graphic design would be ideal.
Have you implemented a high-performing social media campaign? Or even worked as part of a team that did? Then it sounds like you might be a good fit.
