What is the role?
You will provide broad basic support for the producers and co-hosts as we develop the economic world of pre-colonial West Africa for the audience. We expect this period to be 8-10 weeks.
The primary functions of the role include fact checking, transcribing audio and leading smaller research projects on a variety of topics related to the historical economic and monetary systems in West Africa. In addition, having an eye for intriguing storylines and refreshing historical anecdotes while summarizing research papers and books would be critical to the development of the show. Given that subject matter, a high level of cultural awareness will also be crucial.
Other tasks include collecting and presenting relevant information for episodes in development, supporting the development of creative materials, participating in creative and strategic decisions, assisting with editing and production as needed.
How will we measure success?
Oralle is dedicated to presenting paradigm shifting insights so a key success metric for our team is each individual’s learning and growth. Your ability to collaborate, be adaptable and resourceful will also be important.
Skills you should have
Ideally you should have experience with and a passion for research in History, ‘African Studies’, and Economics. As this is a “google it” heavy role, access to academic / research journals online would be extremely helpful in your endeavours.
